How Musical Moments Operates

Home Page

The information below will help you to understand how Musical Moments operates. It will help you understand exactly what you can expect from Musical Moments and what you should not expect from Musical Moments.

There are many web sites and books that offer advice to prospective brides. Most of them are well conceived, thoughtful, and very useful as you plan for your wedding. However, they occasionally provide information about music that, at best, is misleading or, at worst, is completely unrealistic. The information on this page is completely accurate and realistic.

Topics covered on this page:
  • How to communicate with Musical Moments

  • How do I send information to you about my wedding?

  • Does Musical Moments quote costs for weddings ceremonies by the hour or by the event?

  • Does Musical Moments quote costs for weddings receptions/rehearsal parties by the hour or by the event?

  • Does Musical Moments provide music for events other than weddings and wedding receptions?

  • Will Musical Moments provide assistance in selecting music for my wedding?

  • Will Musical Moments attend the rehearsal?

  • Will Musical Moments accompany a soloist?

  • Will Musical Moments play outside?

Communications - The very best way to contact Musical Moments is through email. Susan works full time as the orchestra director at a Lexington District 1 high school and directs a church choir. That makes it hard to get her on the phone unless you schedule the call. Email also gives you and us written information that helps remind us exactly what information has passed between both parties. If you call, please leave your phone number and email address on the answering machine.

Information Form - Musical Moments begins the contracting process through the use of an "Event Information Form." This form is not a contract and it does not obligate you or Musical Moments in any manner. We use it simply to ensure that we understand your needs so that we are able to quote you an accurate price. You can provide the information we need by filling in the form on our Forms Page We will contact you as soon as we can afterr we receive the information from you.

Pricing for Wedding Ceremonies - We will quote you a price as soon as we have a clear understanding of you needs. Our price for a wedding is for the event rather than by the hour. Most weddings are about one hour in length and that is what we put in our contract. However, if a wedding goes for one hour and 15 minutes, or even one and one half hour the cost is the same. Our musicians will not stop playing after exactly one hour. They will continue until the service is concluded.

Pricing for Wedding Receptions/Rehearsal Parties - We price receptions on a two-hour basis. Any time over that is an additional cost on an hourly basis.

Other Events - Musical Moments will provide music for any event that is appropriate for string music. Christmas drop-ins, opening of new offices, employ celebrations, and dinner parties all lend themselves well to string music.

Music Assistance - We will assist you as you pick the music that best suites your taste. That assistance can easily be done over the phone. A good selection of wedding music is available for you to download from our web site. If you wish to have a more in-depth consultation we can arrange for you to meet with our music consultant for a small fee.

Rehearsals and Auditions - Our musicians do not normally attend the rehearsal, nor do they audition. We will be happy to have them attend the rehearsal and/or audition for you if you wish. However, they will need to be paid for their time and brides generally do not find it necessary to do that. Occasionally we have furnished a violinist for the rehearsal. That works well and is much less costly than sending the quartet.

Accompaniment - Our experience is that most vocalists are not comfortable singing with string accompaniment. However, if you wish to have a soloist there are two options:

1. We will hire one that has experience singing with string accompaniment. That will insure that you will get the results you want.

2. On a case by case basis we will consult with you about the possibility of using a close friend or relative as a singer in your wedding. In these cases we will use the following guidelines:

  1. The information about the singer should be on the "Event Information Form" that you send to Musical Moments.

  2. If the information was not included on the original form you must notify Musical Moments at least 30 days prior to the wedding that you wish to use a vocalist.

  3. The singer must furnish the music for the players if Musical Moments does not already have the music.

  4. The singer and the players must practice the music 30 minutes prior to the wedding. This will assure the bride that the solo piece will work well and that the musical sound will satisfy Musical Moments standards of excellence.
